Gendered Global Flows and Trafficking in Women

This paper is grounded in the theories of gender, transnationalism and representation providing an overview of the main scholarly work on themes surrounding the uneven globalisation processes. While engaging in the critique of co-modification of subjectivities, bodies, as well as the appropriation of labour, the paper focuses on trafficking of women as an expression of inequality, exploitation, and violence. It discusses the trafficking of women as it is happening at the global and local levels, yet having Kosovo, as a case study. The paper will conclude with a discussion of Kosovo’s policy on the issue of trafficking of persons and activism to combat gender based violence.
